Wedding Fashion Traditions

There’s a lot more to wedding traditions than just the ceremony and traditions at the reception. Sure enough, one of the most iconic things about a wedding is the wedding cake. That is one of the things that people will remember the most, and mostly because of its looks and not for the way it tastes. Indeed, there are a lot of traditions at wedding ceremonies and wedding receptions that don’t serve a specific purpose, but are only there for looks and because of their symbolic value. For example, the bride and groom don’t need to cut the wedding cake together and feed it to one another, but it represents their first act together as a married couple and their wish to care for one another.

Another thing that doesn’t seem to serve a practical purpose but is there in most weddings, at least western weddings, is the wedding garter. Wedding garters used to be necessary to keep the bride’s stockings up and looking pretty, but nowadays they serve no purpose. But they are deeply rooted in tradition, to the point that some people claim that weddings keep some garter manufacturers in business. And all in all, a wedding is an iconic event, so there’s nothing wrong with having iconic traditions.
